HOW TO ADMINISTER

The box contains the testing device, reagent solution, tubes, tube caps, sterile swabs and package insert.

  • Take the test kit out of the box and leave at room temperature, in the room where the test will be carried out, for at least 30 minutes (ensure the surface is clean and completely dust-free surface)
  • Carefully remove the cap of the reagent solution bottle (already filled with solution) and empty it into the tube
  • Collect the sample to be analysed.
  • Place the sterile swab into the tube. Rotate the swab for at least 10 seconds by pressing its head against the bottom and side of the tube.
  • Squeeze the swab head from the outside against the inside of the tube while removing it. Try to release as much liquid as possible. Dispose of the used swab in biohazardous waste.
  • Replace the cap on the tube and remove only the tip at the end.
  • Add 3 drops of the extracted sample to the well.
  • Read the test result after 15 minutes. Do not read the result after 20 minutes.

STORAGE AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE

Store the kit in a cool, dry place between 2 and 30 degrees centigrade. Keep away from light. Exposure to temperature and / or humidity outside the specified conditions may cause inaccurate results.

  • Do not freeze or refrigerate. Use the kit at temperatures between 15 and 30 degrees centigrade.
  • Use the test with a moisture content between 10-90%.
  • Do not use the test kit beyond the expiration date (printed on the wrapper and box).

Note: All due dates are printed in the Year-Month-Day format.

2022-06-18 means June 18, 2022.

WARNINGS, PRECAUTIONS AND LIMITS OF USE

SARS-CoV-2 antigen test results should not be used as the sole basis for diagnosing or ruling out SARS-CoV-2 infection or for informing about the status of the infection.

  • Negative results do not rule out SARS-CoV-2 infection, particularly in those who have been in contact with the virus. Only a follow-up test with molecular diagnostics and / or CT could definitively rule out infection in these individuals.
  • Positive results may be due to present infections of SARS-coronavirus strains, see the section “cross reactivity” for details. Follow-up tests with molecular diagnostics and / or CT can be considered as confirmation of the test result.
  • For in vitro diagnostic use only.
  • Not for self-analysis.
  • Further molecular diagnostics and / or CT is recommended to identify the actual physical situation.
  • Do not open the foil pouch of the device exposing it to the surrounding environment until immediately before use.
  • Do not use any device or other kit material if damaged.
  • Do not reuse the same device.
  • Handle the reagent solution carefully, avoid contact with eyes or skin. If so, wash thoroughly with water.
  • Do not use the kit beyond the expiration date.
  • Specific training or guidance is recommended if operators are inexperienced with the specimen collection and use procedure
  • Use only nasal swab and throat swab as samples. Follow the protocol specified in the package insert to obtain accurate results.
  • Wear protective equipment such as lab coats, disposable gloves, and protective eyewear when collecting and evaluating specimens.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly before and after performing the test.
  • All parts of the kit are considered biohazardous and can potentially transmit infectious diseases from blood pathogens, even after cleaning and disinfection have been performed. Follow all local regulations for disposal of used test kits.

COLLECTION OF SAMPLES

1) Collection of samples

  • Nasal swab sample.

It is important to collect as much secretion as possible. Insert the sterile swab into one nostril. The tip of the swab should be inserted up to 2.5 cm (1 inch) from the edge of the nostril. Rub the swab 5 times along the mucosa inside the nostril to ensure both mucus and cells are collected. Repeat this procedure for the other nostril to ensure that the right amount of sample is collected from both nasal passages (use the same swab).

  • Throat swab sample.

It is important to collect as much secretion as possible. Insert the sterile swab into the throat where most of the secretion is present in the red area of the maxillary wall and tonsils. Gently rub against the tonsils on both sides and against the throat wall. Please do not touch your tongue when removing the swab.

2) Treatment of samples

Freshly collected samples should be tested as soon as possible. Proper specimen collection and preparation procedures are essential.

PROCEDURE FOR CARRYING OUT THE TEST

Allow the test devices and reagent solution to reach 15-30 degrees Celsius before testing.

  1. Place the device on a clean and level surface.
  2. Carefully remove the cap of the reagent solution bottle (already filled with 300 μl of solution) and empty it into the tube.
  3. Collect the sample to be analyzed.
  4. Place the sterile swab into the tube. Rotate the swab for at least 10 seconds by pressing its head against the bottom and side of the tube. Squeeze the swab head from the outside against the inside of the tube while removing it. Try to release as much liquid as possible. Dispose of the used swab in biohazardous waste.
  5. Replace the cap on the tube and remove only the tip at the end.
  6. Add 3 drops (approximately 60 μL)) of the extracted sample to the well.
  7. Read the test result after 15 minutes. Do not read the result after 20 minutes.

Note:

  • Do not interchange or mix the solution with reagent from different lots.
  • Handle the solution carefully, avoid contact with eyes or skin. If so, wash thoroughly with water.
  • Please follow the local regulations for the disposal of used materials.

INTERPRETATION OF TEST RESULTS

1. Positive result:

Both quality control band C and detection band T are displayed.

2. Negative result:

Only the C quality control band is displayed.

3. Invalid result:

The C quality control band is not displayed indicating that the test is invalid, regardless of whether the detection band is displayed or not. Collect a new sample and perform another test with a new device.

QUALITY CHECK

A coloured band displayed in the control area (C) is intended as an internal procedural control. Confirm sufficient sample volume and successful test execution. Check standards are not provided with this kit; however, it is recommended that testing be performed in a good laboratory to ensure that the protocol runs correctly.

** WARNING **

VivaDiag™ SARS-CoV-2 Ag Rapid Test has ONLY been designed to act as a supplementary test for suspected cases of negative coronavirus nucleic acid detection or in conjunction with nucleic acid detection in the diagnosis of suspected cases. Results from nucleocapsid protein antigen testing should not be used as the sole basis to diagnose or exclude SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) infection or to inform infection status.
